Historical belief of Yamuna River 

The story of Yamuna River are mention in RIG VEDA. It includes the Yamuna River as one of the SEVEN sacred river, along with Ganga and Saraswati. The yamuna is also known as Yamnotri  in Hinduism with many stories and legends associated with it.

The Yamuna river is worshiped as GODDESS and is also known as YAMI and KALINDI.
It Originates from the YAMNOTRI glaciers in the UTTRAKHAND  Himalayas.
The Yamuna river flows through the NORTHEN state of India including Uttrakhand, Himachal Pradesh , Haryana , Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. This river is the major Tributary of Ganga river.

According to popular Hindu legends, bathing in the Yamuna's water free one from the death and go to the heaven and it is considered to cleans the souls of those who bathe in Yamuna water.
YAMUNA river is the important part of Hindu culture and for balancing the Universe.

How Yamuna get Polluted ?

In our EARTH their is 97% water are in oceans which cannot be drinkable, because of salt taste and 1% water are in Glacier form and approximately 2% waters are in river which is life of living beings.
 
The Northen India YAMUNA river is very important for the peoples and for Agricultural use. In simple word we can say life of Delhi depend on Yamuna river.  BUT Today in DELHI situation are different, Yamuna river is almost Dead because of its large pollution. In present time Yamuna river is also called DEAD river. This river has no life for AQUATIC aminmals because of spreading Dangerous pollution. 

Yamuna river get polluted highly in Delhi because of plantation of so many chemical industries. This industries are flow waste sewage and agricultural run off.

Untreated wastage from cities along the river banks flows into the river water, Industrial waste from factories along with the pipeline connection dumped into the river and also solid waste from the cities dumped into the Yamuna's water. And all this process turn water of  Yamuna river in TOXIC form and full of dangerous chemicals. Because of High level of pollution this river does not dissolved oxygen like other rivers of INDIA.

YAMUNA river pollution not danger but also contain large form of FECAL COLIFORM BACTERIA and this harmful bacteria causes so many problems in UNINHABITABLE for aquatic animals like Fish and Mammals.

IN present day Yamuna river turned in BLACK colour because of dirt and pollution. so it creates large impact of Northen India environment . Some environmentalist have declared the Yamuna to be dead by all pollution standards.

In India 1,376 Kilometer (855 miles) Yamuna is one of the holiest river for Hinduism, It is also among 
the most polluted river in the WORLD.

Government take initial steps to clean Yamuna !

For cleaning Ganga and its tributaries Yamuna river the government of India has been allocated RS 20,000 Crore fund under the Namami Ganga Mission (NGM)

NGM - It is an integrated conservation Mission ( approved as flagship programme ) launched by the Union government  in June 2014 with RS 20,000 Crore to twin project like cleaning Ganga and Yamuna.

The water Minister of Delhi Saurabh Bhardwaj announced that the government was effectively working to achieve target of cleaning the Yamuna by 2025.

The Delhi Government has started 5 (YAP) Yamuna Action Plan. This action plan is a bilateral project between India and Japan to improve the water quality of the Yamuna river. It is one of the largest river restoration projects in India.

Some Features of  Yamuna Action Plan

The YAP plan is being executed by the National River conservation Directorate, under the Ministry of Environment and Forest and Government of India.

This plan includes cleaning wasted from the cities, building wastage treatment plants, and creating low-cost sanitation facilities. This plan also covers town in DELHI, HARYANA and UTTAR PRADESH.

The YAP also help to remove pollution from other river near the Yamuna and also improve the water Quality of Yamuna river. 

The most important benefit of the plan (YAP) was future plan for the developing the BIGGEST riverfront on the bank of River Yamuna in Delhi , which is attracted by Tourists and it was worked as a ECONOMIC booster for the overall development of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
